August ride out - Surrey and West Sussex Summer Saunter
Meeting at Bushe Cafe, Blackbushe Airport for a 9.30 leave.
Making our way East to a brief coffee stop at the well known beauty spot and bike friendly Newlands Corner overlooking the surrey hills a few miles east of Guildford.
From here we will travel south by a mixture of A and B roads over some quite challenging terrain via Billinghurst and Petworth to Ashling north of Chichester for lunch at the Horse and Groom - http://thehorseandgroomchichester.co.uk - who have a very extensive bar snacks and Sunday Roast menu (see website).
There will be one petrol stop just before lunch.
After lunch we take a circuitous and meandering route north through some beautiful countryside and winding lanes over the South Downs National Park to Midhurst and then to Treacles Tea Room, Chiddingfold on the A283.
Those wanting to terminate at Blackbushe again, I will lead them back over the 25 mile route, however I very much imagine most will disperse from Treacles.
Total mileage for the day will be in the order of 145 miles, but do not let this fool you. Some of these roads are quite technical and consequently speeds will be lower and concentration levels higher than usual. The ride will be moderate to progressive.
