We are extremely saddened to learn about the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96. Queen Elizabeth II outlived all of her predecessors, and this year celebrated a remarkable 70 years on the throne, at her Platinum Jubilee. The Queen led a life of duty and public service and was dedicated to the people of the United Kingdom. Her selfless commitment will continue to inspire people across the globe for generations to come.
At the age of 21, then Princess Elizabeth gave a speech in South Africa, saying “My whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong,” And how she lived up to that promise.
As she became Queen at the age of 26, her dedication to duty across the world knew no bounds. In 1965 she made the first official visit to West Germany by a British royal since 1913, to mark the 20-year anniversary of the end of World War II. Her Majesty visited China in 1986, when the sovereignty of Hong Kong was handed back to China, and in 2011, she made a historic visit to The Republic of Ireland to celebrate a new era of friendship – the first visit by a British monarch in over 100 years.
Queen Elizabeth II was a truly remarkable person who will be sorely missed – her legacy will live on across the globe. Our thoughts are with her family and those closest to her today.
